Servicedesk Plus - Text and Logo Editing in Browser Tab

This article includes steps on how to edit the icon and text appearance in the browser tab of ServiceDesk Plus.

Note: The following test procedure was implemented in Servicedesk Plus version 14930.



Note: It is recommended that you take a snapshot of your Servicedesk Plus server and stop the Servicedesk Plus service before the steps.

Steps to Edit Icon and Text in Browser Tab

  1. Backup Default Favicon.ico File
    Keep a copy of the existing favicon.ico file as a backup.

  2. Create Custom Icon
    Create a 16 x 16 pixel icon using any graphic design software (e.g. Paint) and save it in .ico format.

  3. Rename or Change Default Icon
    You can keep the default favicon.ico file by renaming it or replace it with a newly created custom icon. Do this under the following paths:

    • C:\ManageEngine\ServiceDesk\webapps\sd\images
    • C:\ManageEngine\ServiceDesk\webapps\ROOT\images
Important: After changing the name of the existing favicon.co file, update the name of your file to favicon.ico.
  1. Edit Company Name or Custom Text to Appear in Browser Tab

    • Run Notepad as Administrator
      Right-click on the Notepad application and select "Run as administrator".
    • Open rebrandInfo.xml File
      Open the rebrandInfo.xml file using the following path:
      C:\ManageEngine\ServiceDesk\conf
    • Edit Text
      Edit the specified field in the file according to your needs and save the file.
Note: Do not use Turkish characters in the Product Name field.



Additional Steps for Changes to Appear

  1. Clear Browser Cache to Make Custom Icon Appear
    To make the special icon appear in the browser tab, clear the browser cache or refresh the page by pressing Ctrl + F5 .

  2. Applying rebrandInfo or Product Name Changes

    • Restart ServiceDesk Plus
      Restart the ServiceDesk Plus service for edits to the rebrandInfo.xml file or changes to the product name to take effect.
    • Clear Browser Cache
      Clear the browser cache again. After this process, the customized text should appear in the browser tab.

Once you complete these steps, the customizations you made will appear successfully in the browser tab.



After the change, the name on the SDP login screen will also be updated.
